The extension of the secondary school of Lograto gives to the existing building a new auditorium and three new laboratories. The project also redefines all the public environment south of the existing school, the relationship between the school and the parking-square, with particular attention to the public use of the new auditorium and the connections between the historic center of the town and the nearby Villa Morando’s public park.
The auditorium remains within the school and a portion of it, but at the same time is a public structure directly accessible from the square through an entrance portico and thus redefines the entire public space.
The square is extended northward to the public park, and the square becomes a connection between the park itself and the city hall (villa Morando) with the town centre, the church and the castle.
A second stage of the project will redefine the entire external public space through the use of new materials and a general redisign of it aimed at transforming it in an unitarian space that will become the physical and social centre of the little town.
The building is realized with the tiniest economical resources and is very simple, but its linear design is simple and iconic at the same time, favouring the civic presence of the building as symbol of the community and its values. Facades are treated with render and a local stone (pietra serena), in a way that is historically tipical in this portion of Po Valley.

L’ampliamento della scuola media di Lograto aggiunge all’edificio esistente un nuovo auditorium e tre laboratori. Il progetto inoltre ridefinisce tutto lo spazio pubblico a sud della scuola esistente, la relazione tra l’edificio e la piazza-parcheggio, con particolare attenzione all’uso pubblico del nuovo auditorium e alle connessioni tra il centro storico dell’abitato e il vicino parco di Villa Morando.
L’auditorium rimane all’interno della scuola e una porzione di essa, ma allo stesso tempo è una struttura pubblica direttamente accessibile dalla piazza attraverso un portico di ingresso, ridefinendo così l’intero spazio pubblico.
La piazza viene estesa verso nord verso il parco pubblico, diventando una connessione tra il parco, la sede del comune (Villa Morando) e il centro dell’abitato, con la chiesa e il castello.
Una seconda fase del progetto, per ora a livello di proposta, ridefinisce l’intero spazio della piazza attraverso un generale ridisegno con nuovi materiali, che lo trasforma in uno spazio unitario che si candida a diventare il centro fisico e sociale del paese.
L’edificio è realizzato con risorse economiche risicate ed è molto semplice, con un disegno lineare e iconico allo stesso tempo, che favorisce la presenza civica del fabbricato come simbolo della comunità e dei suoi valori.
Le facciate sono intonacate e parzialmente rivestite in pietra serena, in una maniera tipica di questa porzione della Pianura Padana.
