Il progetto si prefigge l’ampliamento e la riqualificazione del bar esistente con la finalità di renderlo maggiormente fruibile da parte di tutti gli utenti, di adeguarlo dal punto di vista normativo e di farne un edificio semplice, ma caratterizzato da un apprezzabile livello di dignità ed eleganza, in grado di evidenziarne la funzione pubblica con immediatezza.

La struttura attuale viene conservata pressochè integralmente. L’approccio è quindi ecologico prima di tutto, nel non voler demolire quasi nulla.

L’edificio attuale è realizzato in murature di prismi di cemento portanti, dipinti di un giallo tenue. Il colore viene eliminato mediante sabbiatura in modo da mostrare l’aspetto grezzo dei prismi. All’esterno non vengono ridipinti ma lasciati facciavista.

L’ampliamento è strutturalmente giuntato rispetto all’esistente. I muri che si aggiungono vengono realizzati anch’essi in prismi facciavista, ma privi di funzione portante. Le parti interne all’edificio di tali muri sono isolati dall’interno. In questo modo parte esistente ed ampliamento si fondono in un nuovo edificio che è unitario, semplice, elegante.

La struttura portante dell’ampliamento si riduce alla copertura, che è in legno a vista, ed ai pilastri in legno, anch’essi a vista, posizionati adiacenti ai muri in prismi ma da questi separati. Il controventamento antisismico della copertura avviene mediante gli stessi elementi lignei.

Il legno è di gran lunga il materiale la cui produzione genera meno CO2, nettamente meno che calcestruzzo o acciaio. Anche in questo senso la scelta progettuale è improntata all’ecologia. Inoltre una copertura così leggera consente di avere fondazioni ben più piccole e meno costose.

Anche l’area esterna è protetta rispetto al parcheggio dal prolungamento del nuovo muro esterno dell’edificio, che consente anche l’ingresso diretto dal parcheggio per gli addetti, le squadre ed eventualmente anche al pubblico.

Dall’edificio e dallo spazio esterno, grazie all’apertura prevista dal progetto, si può godere dello spettacolo delle partite e osservare l’intero Centro Sportivo.

Nella sua semplicità, il nuovo intervento viene realizzato in modo che gli elementi che lo costituiscono vengano facilmente identificati con la funzione che svolgono nell’edificio. La struttura portante in legno è lasciata interamente a vista, le partizioni esterne in prismi appaiono come tali, così come le coibentazioni finite a cartongesso e le vetrate. Ogni elemento, anche all’occhio, appare svolgere la funzione che effettivamente compie.

The project focuses on the extension and restoration of the existing cafe with the aim of making it more usable, to adapt it from a regulatory point of view and to make it a simple but elegant building, so to allow its public function to be perceived immediately.

The existing volume built in concrete masonry, used as a kitchen and services, is renovated and expanded with a new portion that hosts the new cafe and with the provision of an exterior space with a similar function but more suitable for use in summer.

The current structure is almost entirely preserved. The approach is therefore first of all ecological, as none of the existing building is demolished.

The current building is made of masonry of load-bearing concrete blocks, painted in a pale yellow. The color is erased by sandblasting in order to show the rough appearance of the prisms. Outside they are not repainted but left exposed.

The expansion is structurally joined to the existing one. The walls that are added are also made in exposed concrete blocks, but without load-bearing function. The extension is insulated from the inside. In this way, the existing part and the extension merge into a new building that is unitary, simple, elegant.

The supporting structure of the extension is reduced to the roof, which is in exposed wood, and to the wooden pillars, also exposed, positioned adjacent to the walls in concrete blocks but separated from them. The anti-seismic bracing of the roof takes place using the same wooden elements.

Wood is by far the material whose production generates the least CO2, significantly less than concrete or steel. In this sense too, the design choice is based on ecology. Furthermore, such a light roof allows for much smaller and less expensive foundations.

The patio is also protected from the parking lot by the extension of the new exterior wall of the building, which also allows a direct entry from the parking lot for employees, teams and possibly also to the public.

From the building and from the outside space, thanks to the opening provided by the project, it’s possible to enjoy the matches and observe the entire Sports Center.

In its simplicity, the new intervention is made so that the elements that make it up are easily identified with the function they perform in the building. The wooden supporting structure is left entirely exposed, the external partitions in concrete blocks appear as such, as well as the finished plasterboard insulation and the windows. Each element, even to the eye, appears to perform the function it is actually thought for.
